Walks near Lydstep

1. Cemaes Head

The Cemaes Head walk is lovely to do in springtime, you'll see fulmars, cormorants and guillemots nesting on the highest cliffs (550ft) in the National Park. More seals breed here than anywhere else in Wales from mid-summer. And year-round you’re likely to spot chough, ravens, kestrels and buzzards, you may even see bottlenose dolphins in the bay.

2. Porthgain to Whitesands

Embark on this walk from pretty Porthgain harbour for exhilarating hiking along high cliffs. You’ll see spectacular views to rocky bays, a ruined settlement at Abereiddy beach, with its Neolithic burial chambers and views to Ramsey Island, before a paddle at Whitesands beach.

3. Stackpole Head and Bosherston Lilypond

cliff walk that’s as good as it gets for families: a pretty harbour at Stackpole Quay, beautiful Barafundle Bay and Broad Haven beach, plus Bosherston lily ponds (best in June) as an unexpected bonus.

4. Deer Park to Dale

This walk near Marloes is a superb half day; a wave-lashed headland with an Iron Age hillfort and views to Skomer Island clouded by seabirds. Or use it to launch a days walk around the Dale Peninsula: around St Anne’s Head there’s raw Atlantic on one side, calm estuary on the other and a straight back to the Griffin Inn in Dale.

5. Penally beach to Tenby

Take a short bus ride or the car and benefit from the free parking at Penally Train station. You can set off across the dunes following the tarmac path and on to the very West side of South Beach. Here, you can see Tenby in the near distance to the left and you can walk all the way into the centre! Perfect for dog walkers, an Autumn Sunday stroll or walking off a big lunch! If you don’t fancy the walk back, you can catch the train from Tenby to Penally.

6. Huntmans Leap and St Govans Head

This drive takes you through the military grounds to a large carpark. You can take a detour 75m down the polished limestone steps to St Govans Chapel.  You can then continue on to St Govans Head and see the old war train tracks and trenches.

7. Fresh Water East

Any Harry Potter or Robin Hood fans? This large stretch of beach is a movie directors dream! Definitely worth a visit!

8. Manorbier castle

This is a small castle with a sandy beach. Wind through the beautiful village of manorbier, with a coffee shop and country cottages. This is a great beach for dogs to play and can be quieter.

9. Amroth and Wisemans Bridge

Definitely one of our favourite places. Great food at Wisemans Bridge with a large seating area outside to enjoy the sea air. There is a coastal path with takes you along the beach front all the way to Saunderfoot. This path is used for walkers, runners, prams, wheelchair users, bikes, rollerbladers and many more! The path is flat and is suitable for everyone!
